Notice for Certificate and Visa of Foreign Students
1.       Notice for certificate of foreign students
Passport
Passport is the only legal ID for aliens during their stay in China
Every student must keep well of the passport
Altering the content, as well as writing, drawing, stamping on it without authorization is all forbidden
Lending or selling passport to others is illegal and strictly prohibited
 
Visa
Common passport with X visa is for foreign students study in China
 (X visa: over 6 months) 
 
Registration Form of Temporary Residence
In accordance with the Rules Governing the Implementation of the Law of PRC on the administration of the Entry and Exit of Aliens, aliens wishing to lodge at the home of a Chinese resident, at a foreign institution in China of at the home of an alien in China must register for temporary accommodation. Aliens having long-term residence in China who wish to lodge temporarily elsewhere than their own residence, or aliens who lodge temporarily in movable living facilities must also report and register. An alien lodging in an urban area must report and register temporary accommodation within 24 hours of his or her arrival. In rural areas, the lodger shall report and register within 72 hours of arrival.Anyone responsible for failing to register accommodation or reporting such registrations to the public security office may be charged for accommodating foreign students without valid certificates in violation of the law and may be served a warning or fined not more than 500 yuan.
 
2.       Residence Permit
X visa holder must apply for residence permit at exit-entry administration division within 30 days after entering China 
A)      Passport  with valid visa
B)  One 2 inches photo with pale background   
C)  Visa application for study in China  
D)  Notice for entrance
E)  Certificate of physical examination
F)  Registration form of temporary residence   
G)  Visa application form with seal
 
3.       Reminders of Foreign Students Applying For Visas
Foreign students who need to prolong their stay or residence in China beyond the expiration of their visas or residence certificates shall apply for an extension before the expiration of their visas or certificates. In case of any changes in the information written in an students' resident permitsuch as name nationalityoccupationstatuspassport number), the holder of the resident permit shallwithin 10 daysregister such changes with the public security bureau at the place of his/her residence. According to the Rules Governing the Implementation of the Law of the PRC on the Entry and Exit of Aliens .Foreign students who illegally stay in China may be served a warningfined 500 yuanRMBper day for the period of his/her illegal stay in China, or detained from 3-10 days.
Those whose offenses are serious may at the same time be ordered to leave the country within a specified time. Who did not report the change of the information of the resident permit within 10 days may be warned or fined. Those whose offenses are serious may at the same time be ordered to leave the country within a specified time.
 
4.       Apply for new passport
a.       Valid date is coming
b.       Report to teacher
c.       Apply for new passport at embassy
d.       New passport should be given to teacher
e.       Report to exit-entry administration division within 10 days

6.       Visas for relative of foreign students
By the invitation of institute, relative of foreign student could apply for L visa in Chinese embassy or consulate abroad and then come to China as a companion. The exit-entry administration department can extent the relative’s visa by official letter of institute. The time limit of relative stays in China can not exceed the valid time of student’s residence permit.
 
7.       Notice for apartment renting
It is suggested that the foreign students to make sure the lessor has valid ownership or business management  right of the apartment for lease when renting apartment, and confirm the competency of the business when renting via an intermediary agency. Meanwhile, checking the written contract with the lessor, agency or any other parties carefully will help you to avoid possible loss.
