The Academics for International Students at Beijing Sport University Undergraduates
1. Academic Schedule
The Beijing Sport University’s academic year is comprised of two semesters: the Fall Semester and the Spring Semester. The duration of both semesters is 18 weeks, having their last two weeks schedule for course review and examinations.
2. Vocation
The winter vocation varies yearly as this break is determined by the Chinese New Year; usually it’s from the middle of Jan. to the end of Feb.
Summer vocation is from middle the July to the end of August.
3. Duration of Study
The undergraduate students are given a time limit of 4 years to complete their study and students may extend the duration of study up to a maximum of 6 years. Please check relevant regulations about the duration of graduate study.
4. Registration
All students have to register on the designated day of registration. If a student can’t register on the designated day, he/she is required to apply for a leave absence in advance.
Students must have paid the tuition, insurance and dormitory fee (if live on campus) prior to their registration. If records show that your fee was not paid in full, you are not eligible to register.
 
5. Course Selection

All undergraduates should select their courses in the  URP Academic System. The selection period is on the weekend before the first day of semester.

6. Attendance and Absence
Students’ attendance is recorded. If a student should miss classes, he/she is required to apply for an approval for excused absence in advance. Obtain “Excused Absence Form” from Room 6004 or download at http://inc.bsu.edu.cn/chs/index.asp
Students who have been absent for a third (or more) of the total number of a course’s classes are not eligible to take the final exam, moreover, these students will receive a zero grade. 
 
7. Examinations and Grades
International students must sit for all the exams of their courses. If they should miss an exam, they must apply for an excused absence and seek permission from their program department in ahead of time to sit for a replacement test/make-up test.
Students who are not given prior permission to miss an exam will receive a zero grade for that particular exam which they have missed.
Grades are given in the form of percentages. The passing grade is 60%. Grades allocated for classroom participation, homework, quizzes are counted towards the students 'final grade.


Make-up exams and Retaking courses

If students failed their exams, they should apply for a make-up exam.
If receiving a zero grade, students are disqualified to take make-up exam, they must retake courses.
 
8. Procedures for Obtaining Documents
Student Identification Card
International Students will be given a Beijing Sport University student ID card after they have registered. The student ID card for Undergraduate Students and general visiting students is issue by the International Education College; and the student ID card for Graduate Students is issue by the Graduate School.
If you have lost you Student ID card, please request for a replacement at International Education College or Graduate School with a 2-inch photo.
 
9. Transcript
All students will be issued with a transcript upon their graduation/completion of their study. If you need more copies of your transcript, please follow the instructions indicated by the Academic Affairs Office (Undergraduate Students)/ the Office of Graduate Studies (Graduate Students) to request for the additional copies to be issued. Visiting Students and Research Scholars who need more copies of their transcript will have to request for them at the International Students Office.
 
10. Certificate of Study
Students may apply for a Certificate of Study at International Education College (Room 6004); the certificate can only be written in Chinese or English.
